Julia Mancuso signs three year deal with Head skis
American ski racing star and three-time Olympic medalist Julia Mancuso has signed a three-year agreement with Head skis.
The deal, announced today (April 2) by Head, will keep the seven-time World Cup winner on Head equipment through the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games and 2015 Val/Beaver Creek World Championships.
Mancuso was previously racing on Volkl skis (since 2010) and Lange boots (since 2005) and will now make the switch to Head skis and boots and bindings.
Mancuso joins boyfriend Aksel Lund Svindal, Bode Miller, Lindsey Vonn and Ted Ligety on the Head World Cup Rebels team.
“I am psyched to ski for HEAD. Watching their success these past years on the World Cup is really impressive, they obviously know how to make skis that win, and I am honored to join such a great group of athletes,” said Mancuso, just days after earning her 15th U.S. National title. “I am really motivated for these next years with the Olympics and World Champs in Vail coming up. I like how the skis and boots feel on the snow, and I look forward to this summer to dial everything in! These next years are going to be awesome.”
“Due to her personality and her great versatility and skiing skills Julia is a great addition to our team,” said Rainer Salzgeber, race manager for the HEAD World Cup Rebels.
Mancuso first hinted that she was nearing a gear change when she donned a pair of Head boots in a winning performance in the U.S. National Championship super G last Friday. Speculation flew around twitter and facebook, speculation that was confirmed by today’s announcement.
