Norwegian leads the way in World Juniors combined; U.S. skier fifth{mosimage}USSA -- Norwegian World Cup skier Petter Tande led the jumping Wednesday and skied off during the 10km race to win the nordic combined gold medal at the FIS Nordic World Junior Championships while U.S. skier Eric Camerota moved up to fifth in the race.

At Stryn, Norway, Tande posted the second-fastest 10km time and that enabled him to win by 2:30.7 with Germany's Tino Edelmann taking the silver medal and Austrian Davis Zauner the bronze, 2:54.6 back.

Camerota was 11th in jumping on the K90 hill but passed a half-dozen skiers as he turned in the fifth-fastest time as he advanced to fifth in the field of 54. He was 3:43.6 behind Tande.

His twin brother Brett was 34th with Willy Graves (Putney, VT; New York Ski Education Foundation/Brattleboro Outing Club) finishing 43rd and Trevor Keate (Park City, Utah/National Sports Foundation) 49th.

The next nordic combined event at World Juniors is the team competition Friday
