Goergl, who won the Beaver Creek super G earlier this season, completes a team made up of current World Cup leader of the discipline Hermann Maier, reigning downhill world champion Michael Walchofer and Benjamin Raich, who at the start of world championships had moved within 100 points of Bode Miller in the overall World Cup standings. Goergl, who skis on Fischer, defeated his teammate Fritz Strobl in this morning trials. Strobl is the reigning Olympic downhill champion.
