Weather forces cancellation of ski jumping opener{mosimage}The opening race of the 2005-06 ski jumping World Cup in Kuusamo, Finland, was cancelled on Friday due to heavy snow and moisture on the in-run. Only a few competitors were able to have their jumps in the blizzard-like conditions before tournament organizers decided to intervene.

There was a 25-minute break as the start was delayed, but persistent rain meant the moisture on the in-run was causing the jumpers to deaccelerate before each leap and the decision was taken to cancel the event.
