Maria Riesch injured in Aspen{mosimage}Aspen, Colorado -- Maria Riesch's rise to stardom has been put on hold by injury yet again. The talented German skier reportedly got bad news after a fall in the Aspen GS -- probable torn knee ligaments (likely an ACL) and damaged meniscus. There were also talk of a spiral fracture, although no information has officially been released.

Riesch leaned in on a long delay in her second run. Sliding on her side, she braced herself as she slid right through a panel. Immediately after wiping out the panel, Riesch slid over a roll, and her left ski dug into the grippy snow. Her knee twisted inward with her weight back, and she continued her slide, nearly taking out a couple of photographers.

Riesch was taken down on a sled, and driven immediately to the hospital for an MRI and X-rays.

Riesch has a long history of injuries in her short career. She had this same knee scoped this fall, and has blown out her other knee as well.
