College: Vermont rules Williams, extends EISA winning streak to 5{mosimage}HANCOCK, Mass. - University of Vermont senior Hilary McCloy won her third race of the season with a victory in the giant slalom and the Catamounts battled through rough conditions to win the Williams Ski Carnival.

UVM finished with 775 points on the weekend to finish ahead of second-place Dartmouth's 716 points. The college teams compete in the EISA Championships at the Middlebury Snow Bowl next weekend.

"We're traveling to Middlebury tomorrow to race there and to start preparing for next weekend' director of skiing and head alpine coach Bill Reichelt said. 'We want to get some work in on the giant slalom. As for the entire team, we have been pretty consistent this year and we're looking forward to the EISA Championships.'

UVM took four of the top six spots in the women's giant slalom. Senior Jamie Kingsbury followed up McCloy's victory in the GS with a third-place finish. Sophomore Jilyne McDonald was fourth and senior Amy Cochran was sixth. Middlebury's Megan Hughes in second broke the Catamount grip on the podium.

In the men's giant slalom senior, Eric Mann from Williams won on his home hill. Karl Johnson from Dartmouth and Andrew Everett from Middlebury rounded out the top three.

Because of the weather, the nordic events were changed to 3x4-kilometer relays at Prospect Mountain in Woodford, Vt. In the men's 3x4 km freestyle relay, the UVM trio of Anders Folleras, Juergen Uhl and Ryan Foster earned a first-place finish. In the women's 3x4 km relay, Alison Crocker anchored Dartmouth's winning team. Kristina Trygstad-Saari led the Big Green and handed off to Susan Dunklee.

UVM has won all five carnivals on the EISA circuit this year.
