"Cancellation is due to snowpack being less than what is required to build a world-class World Cup jump site," Buller Ski Lifts, the event organizer, said a statement. The normal date for a final decision would be Aug. 21, but officials said last week they would make a final decision by Monday.

With Buller's cancellation, the World Cup schedule will open Dec. 9-10 with two aerials events at a site to be announced in China. The first moguls contest is scheduled for Dec. 14 at the traditional moguls site — Tignes, France. Two events are scheduled for the USA — Jan. 11-13 (moguls, aerials, dual moguls) at Deer Valley, Utah, and Jan. 18-20 (two aerials plus moguls) in Lake Placid, N.Y.
