NORWEGIAN NEWSPAPER Aftenposten is reporting that current U.S. nordic combined head coach Lasse Ottesen is considering a return to coaching in his home country of Norway.
Ottesen is said to have several alternatives, but told Norwegian Broadcasting Corp NRK  that he “would most like to come back to Norway,” Aftenposten reported.
Ottesen directed a historic 2007-08 season for the U.S. nordic combined squad as Bill Demong finished third in the overall World Cup standings, the best finish ever for a U.S. nordic combined athlete. Johnny Spillane also recorded the fifth World Cup podium of his career Nov. 30 with a second-place finish in Kuusamo, Finland.
Ottesen, a three-time Olympian, was the silver medalist in the 90-meter jumping event at the 1994 Winter Games in Lillehammer. He skied on the World Cup circuit for 11 years before retiring in 2001. He was the jumping coach for Norway’s nordic combiners for two years before coming to the U.S. team for the 2005 season. He became U.S. head coach before the 2007 season.
