INNSBRUCK, Austria — Austrian nordic combined skier Mario Stecher underwent surgery on his right knee Friday and will be out for three months.
Stecher tore cartilage and his medial and lateral meniscus Thursday in a training crash in Predazzo, Italy, the Austrian ski federation reported.
The 31-year-old Stecher has eight World Cup wins and was part of the Austrian team that won the gold medal at the 2006 Torino Olympics. He finished 15th in last season's World Cup nordic combined standings.
