American ski cross racer Casey Puckett followed up his fourth place World Cup finish earlier this week with another top-ten finish in Tignes, Fance at the 2009 Tignes Airwaves yesterday.

Lars Lewen of Sweden took the race followed by Canadians Stanley Hayer and Davey Barr in second and third respectively.

"Casey wanted to redeem himself from last year when he finished third. The course was the same as last year but it was a little slower," U.S. Ski Cross Head Coach Tyler Shepherd said. "In his first heat he was last going out of the first turn but later the guys in front of him crashed and he moved on. In the second heat it didn't go his way. Someone crossed over his tips and he ended up going up a bank and over the top."

On the women’s side it was Austria's Karin Huttary taking the win, followed by Ophelie David of France in second and Norwegian Gro Kvinlog Genlid in third. No U.S. women competed.

Puckett and Co. will be back in action later this week at a World Cup event in Les Contamines, France, Jan. 10. The Aspen Native should feel right at home on the hill where he took second place in a World Cup competition a year ago.
