Just when you thought that things might have settled down for one of the world's all-time greatest ski jumpers, former Finnish superstar Matti Nykaenen is once again behind prison bars.

Nykaenen, 47, has been sentenced to 16 months in jail, following sentencing in a Tampere, Finland courtroom this week. The four-time Olympian was sentenced for a Christmas 2009 holiday attack on his wife, and will serve the time without any possibility of probation. Nykaenen, the brilliant, iconic flyer of the 1980's has struggled mightly for decades with alcohol addiction, and wrote candidly about his battle in an auotbiography published two years ago.

Nykaenen has previously served a prison stint for a knife assault back in 2005.
