Academic strengths and overview: Northwood School is a coeducational, independent boarding and day school located in the Olympic village of Lake Placid, N.Y. Northwood provides a setting for students to determine and to attain personal goals through a balance of rigorous academics, an awareness of the natural beauty of the Adirondack Mountains and the unique athletic opportunities available in the region. Northwood provides the support for dedicated athletes to focus on their athletic and academic goals in a structured and supportive environment. Northwood School is looking for disciplined, dedicated, committed athletes who have a positive outlook; applicants need to be prepared to work hard in a demanding college preparatory setting.
