LEKI has proudly announced the winner of the 2017 LEKI Full Ride Scholarship to the Ligety-Weibrecht Ski Camp: Aidan Hayward Toland. Thirteen-year-old Toland was chosen from hundreds of applicants submitted from around the world to attend a one-week camp session this summer. The scholarship was awarded to the applicant that not only expressed a high level of dedication to their ski racing, but also a commitment to community service and family and friends, and whose actions could serve as a role model to others.

“Although it was difficult to choose only one winner from all of the remarkable and inspirational applications, Aidan absolutely stood out,” commented LEKI USA Vice President Greg Wozer.

“I am so excited that LEKI selected me for the Ligety-Weibrecht camp!,” Toland said. “I’ve dreamed of being able to train with the best skiers. What an awesome opportunity to improve my skills and have a lot fun. I love skiing so much and I’ve always wanted to ski in the summer, especially this year, since I wasn’t able to finish out the season.”

Toland races out of Greek Peak in upper New York state. He has a younger brother battling brain cancer and is very involved in fundraising for St. Jude and Double H Ranch as well as a variety of volunteer work in his community. He misses quite a bit of training, competition and school due to his family traveling for his brother’s cancer treatments, but makes up for it with desire and determination and has come close to making states. Becoming an adaptive ski coach (like his father) is one of his long-term goals.
