Another day, another cancellation. With sustained snowfall overnight, the third men’s downhill training run in Lake Louise was canceled first thing Friday morning.

Officials had hoped for the snow would cease by early morning and allow them to prepare the slope for a 1 p.m. start, but the weather failed to cooperate and left them with no choice but to cancel training and focus on getting the slope race ready for the weekend. The decision comes a day after officials also canceled Thursday’s training run. Fortunately, the men were able to get one training day completed on Thursday, in which Kjetil Jansrud skied the fastest time.

A single training run is all that is required for the race to move forward on Saturday as scheduled. While heavy snow still characterized most of the day Friday, the weather is expected to improve tomorrow, and after many days of snow, everyone on the ground is hoping the race takes place under clear blue skies.
