Aamodt announces he’ll return to Dynastar skis next season{mosimage}Kjetil Andre Aamodt of Norway, sidelined this season by a broken ankle, announced that he will ski on Dynastar skis when he returns to World Cup competition next season. Aamodt last skied for Dynastar in 1996, before he switched to Nordica, the brand he currently races on.

Aamodt told the Norwegian radio station KANAL 24 that he will make the switch this summer, but declined to discuss the terms and conditions of his new contract with the French ski brand.

The spring of 2004 will likely see more World Cup athletes signing new equipment deals, since many of the sport’s contracts are negotiated on a two-year basis. That makes it easier for athletes and factories to plan around the Olympics.

Aamodt, who has seven Olympic and 12 world championship medals, also told KANAL 24 that he plans to race beyond the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy.

Aamodt has been back on snow on a daily or semi-weekly basis for more than a month now. He plans to start training gates in earnest late this summer.
