To all, I would like you to know what an incredible past three weeks the
eastern development program has had. It started off with an incredible
J3 Finals event at Okemo Mt., from there Waterville Valley and WBBTS
hosted the eastern J3 Junior Olympics and wrapped up this past weekend
back at Okemo Mt. for the J4 Whistler Cup Shootout and Future Stars
festival. As you know, each of these events spreads out over a five-day
period. Both hosts Okemo and OMS and Waterville (WBBTS) did an amazing
job of organizing on and off hill events for the athletes.  Both hosts
were completely prepared for their events and ran them extremely well.
I had many parents and coaches come to me and say those were the best
Finals, JO's and Future Stars events they had ever been to. It is
incredibly difficult to run an event, never mind an event spanning over 4
or 5 days. A ton of hard work went in to all of these events and kudos
to both hosts on jobs extremely well done. Thank you for all of your
hard work and please look for my reports on these events in the next day
or two.

Best,

Alex Krebs
Eastern Development and Competitions Manager
U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association

Dear Junior Olympic Athlete:
Congratulations on qualifying to take part in the USSA Junior Olympics. This is a
great honor and you should be very proud of your accomplishment. It takes a lot
of preparation, training and hard work to get to this point. Your dedication has
singled you out as a top athlete in your sport.
It is clear that you and many of your fellow athletes have dreams and goals of
someday being a part of the U.S. Ski Team or competing in the Olympics. Your
achievement at the Junior Olympic level is a very important stepping stone. As
we watch the success of many athletes who have developed through the USSA
pipeline, we are confident that you are on the right track to victory.
The USSA encourages you to take advantage of this awesome opportunity and
to push yourself to meet our vision of Best in the World. Be sure to thank those
who have helped you get here – your parents, your friends, your coaches, your
local resort and others. When I was a young athlete in Aspen, my coach taught
me the importance of recognizing those who helped me along the way. Those
simple thank you’s from 30-40 years ago continue to benefit me today.
This has been an exciting year for the U.S. Ski Team with World Cup wins in
alpine, cross country and nordic combined. I am sure the success of Lindsey
Vonn, Kikkan Randall and Bill Demong will be an inspiration to you.
I wish you luck and hope you have a successful Junior Olympics.
Sincerely,
Bill Marolt
President & CEO
U.S. Ski & Snowboard Association

Educational Foundation and Waterville Valley Academy are very happy to be hosting the Junior Olympics
this year. It will take place March 9-12, 2008 at the Waterville Valley Ski Area in Waterville Valley, NH.
Enclosed here is all the information you will need for this Junior Olympic Event. Carefully read and
familiarize yourself with all this material. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us.
We look forward to seeing you compete on our World Cup Trail. Best of luck.
