REUTERS is reporting that Finland-based sports equipment maker Amer Sports would cut up to 400 jobs globally as part of its restructuring plans in 2008.
Amer Chief Executive Roger Talermo said at a press conference the jobs would be cut mainly from France and Austria where the company will shut its ski and ski boots manufacturing plants, but said some jobs may be cut in Romania as well.
Amer, which owns Salomon and Atomic and has its North American winter sports headquarters in Ogden, Utah, reported earlier on Wednesday a drop in October-December operating profit to $16.11 million, dented by low winter sports sales.
