BORMIO, Italy – Rain and fog conspired to put a premature end to the team event and the World Cup Finals ended the way they began, with a cancellation.
Introduced in 2005 at the World Championships, the team event did not account for individual scoring and Austria had long ago captured the Nations Cup with nearly twice the points of runner-up Switzerland.
Austria finished with a total of 13,560 to Switzerland's 6,458. Italy was third at 6,324 and the U.S. fourth with 5,965, France came in at 3,815 and Canada sixth with 3,637.
The U.S. was second in downhill points behind Austria 3,075 to 2,244. Canada was third in super G points behind Austria and Switzerland, 3,323 – 1,832 – 1,323.
The U.S. had not planned to enter the team event.
