According to reports coming out of Europe, French racer Pierrick Bourgeat’s season, and possibly career, may have ended after he sustained a broken leg while training in Zinal for the World Cup slalom at Levi Nov. 15.

Bourgeat was transported to hospital in Grenoble where doctors opted for surgery. It is the same leg Bourgeat injured in 2007.

At 33 years of age Bourgeat is not a strong candidate for a return to racing. A slalom and combined specialist he started 124 World Cup races, winning three including back to back wins at Shigakogen in Japan in 2001. He competed in three winter Olympics, at Nagano, Salt Lake and Torino.
