“We couldn’t be more excited to have someone of Caroline’s character, maturity and competitive spirit represent Steamboat-Ski Town, U.S.A.® to the world’ said Andy Wirth, vice president of marketing & sales for the resort. “Caroline has competed on the world stage for nearly a decade and through it all shows the class and dignity of a true American ski racer.’

Nicknamed “Liner’ for her ability to find the perfect line down the mountain, Caroline is the first woman in the United States to score World Cup Points in all five Alpine events in the same season. A two-time Olympic competitor with her sights firmly set on Italy in 2006, she is looking to build upon her best Olympic finish-7th place at Nagano, Japan in 1998.

“Steamboat is my home and a truly a very special place’ said Lalive. “It’s an honor to represent the Steamboat Ski Area and entire Steamboat Springs community which has such an established history of great athletes and the best programs and facilities in the country including the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club.’

Having just competed at the 2005 Alpine World Championships in Bormio where she placed 12th in the Super G event, Lalive has recorded five top-10 finishes on the World Cup Circuit this season. In addition, she placed 13th in the Combined event at the 2003 Alpine World Championships, is the 1999 Junior World Champion in Combined, and is a four-time US National champion. Steamboat’s skiing heritage dates back to the early 1900s and is a place that has produced more winter Olympians that any other town in North America, a record 56 and counting.
