Williams comes to CVA with more than 25 years of experience in the ski business as director of a major ski program and as a coach. During his career, Williams has worked at the national and international level of coaching and managed and coached athletes from the World Cup to development level. His dedication to his athletes and programs has earned him the USSA International Coach of the Year and USSA/USOC Development Coach of the Year for alpine skiing distinctions.

Williams, a University of Maine Orono alumnus and father of four, said, ‘CVA has always had a strong program and I have always loved Sugarloaf. I am excited to add my experience to the depth of experienced coaching staff at CVA and I look forward to working with everyone there to move the program forward in a positive direction. Most of all I am excited to get back to the day-to-day coaching of athletes. As a coach it’s a real thrill putting kids on the development and NCAA teams.’

An International Certified Coach, Williams comes to CVA after serving as program director of the New York Ski Educational Foundation where his duties included serving as a liaison between the Olympic Regional Development Authority and NYSEF as well as between Northwood School, National Sports Academy, Lake Placid High School and NYSEF. Williams also managed the race calendar and ran alpine events at Whiteface.

While at NYSEF Williams achievements included: 2003 USSA Alpine Club of the Year, 2003 USSA Ski Club of the Year, 2003 chief of race for U.S. national championships, 2004 U.S. Ski Team assistant coach to World Junior Championships in Maribor, Slovenia, where a NYSEF athlete was sixth in the downhill; in 2004 NYSEF athletes placed first at J2 nationals in super G and fourth in downhill; and from 2003-06 Williams and the NYSEF staff coached NYSEF athletes onto the world juniors team. In 2006 NYSEF racers earned a first-place finish at world juniors in downhill and a third in super G.

William’s and the NYSEF coaching staff’s dedication and commitment to their athletes and ski program helped earn NYSEF Ski Racing magazine’s rating as one of the top six ski clubs in the country in 2004. Prior to NYSEF, Williams served as a U.S. Ski Team development coach, World Cup coach and Europa Cup coach. He is also the chairman of USSA’s Eastern Development Committee and vice chair of the National Development Committee.
