Week 11 recap
Team PMS continues to dominate. Now riding a win streak a cycle and a half long, Team PMS broke the Interosseous Membrane 373-184, gathering up 156 points from Janica Kostelic over three races, a win from Nicole Hosp and solid points from Michaela Dorfmeister in DH and Julia Mancuso in GS. The Membranes had Anja Paerson for the SG win and got 73 from Bennie Raich over a couple of events, but was not able to prevent the inevitable.

The ever-disastrous Destroyers continued a string of amazing bad luck, hooking up with The Blacks on a week when the latter got 150 points from the Herminator, 100 from Nicole Hosp in the GS slot and 80 from Julia Mancuso in the DH position. All told, The Blacks amassed 375 in their second best week of the season, and now have accumulated 2,489 on the season, second only to Team PMS. The Destroyers had a good week: 105 from Kjetil Aamodt, 66 from Walchhofer, 40 from Marco Buechel and lesser scores from two other positions, but could not add fast enough to counter the increasingly potent Blacks offense.

Rick’s Rangers found some teeth, garnering three podiums placings as Anja Paerson found her speed skills for 140 points and “Speed Queen” Renate Goetschl finally got to ski at Cortina again for a downhill win. Add in Raich’s slalom podium and the Rangers posted an impressive 329 score to dust the Schwarzeneggers, who battled, with Alexandra Meissnitzer sitting out two of the three possible races. Elisabeth Goergl contributed back-to-back third-place finishes, but DNFd the first race, adding to the Schwarzenegger frustrations.

The Ribbons rebounded nicely and kept pace with the league leader, getting 132 points from Renate Goetschl and, amazingly, getting some points out of every position on the board and a 284 total. This sets up a showdown between the top two teams in week 12. The 284 count proved to be plenty to put the work week into the life of the Weekend Warriors, who lost any shot with Kathrin Zettel’s lack of scoring. The Warriors got 61 from Didier Defago and that was the highlight of the squad’s week.

The emergence of Julia Mancuso served Hawk’s Harem well. The youngster contribued 205 points by herself, which was enough to dispatch the Smokin’ Mirrors despite triple race scores from Michela Dorfmeister (good for 86) and a double from Andrea Fischbacher (for 47)

In the “We’d rather not talk about it category,” the Birds of Pray edged the Hammers 180-170, thanks almost exclusively to Maier’s DH win at Garmisch. The Hammers had four positions score, two of them twice, and still could not muster enough to get the Birds to lay.
