Fantasy Report: Week 12 final

By Published On: February 17th, 2007Comments Off on Fantasy Report: Week 12 final

With just one more week of regular season before the fantasy play-offs start many of the play-off ladder positions remain undetermined. It looks, however, as if teams with records under .500 will not be playing games in the post-season. Interosseous Membrane raised out of the ashes this week, getting onto the scoreboard for the first time all week with Mario Matt winning the gold medal in the final race of World Championships and providing enough points in the slalom position to give the Moser-Proell Division leader its tenth win of the season. The Membrane was nearly the only team to get benefit from the men's slalom due to the large DNF rate. The Destroyers stretched its win streak to six games with a narrow win over Ribbons in a battle of GS gold medals. The Destroyers got the women's gold from Hosp and 45 points from Julia Mancuso.

WITH JUST ONE MORE WEEK of regular season before the fantasy playoffs start, many of the playoff ladder positions remain undetermined. It looks, however, as if teams with records under .500 will not be playing games in the postseason. Interosseous Membrane raised out of the ashes this week, getting onto the scoreboard for the first time all week with Mario Matt winning the gold medal in the final race of World Championships and providing enough points in the slalom position to give the Moser-Proell Division leader its 10th win of the season. Ribbons countered with the men's GS win from Svindal but got just 10 from Hermann Maier and tasted defeat. Hilary's Hellacious Hardcore snagged a win away from the Birds of Pray when a the latter gambled heavily on men's slalom results and got tagged for it. The Hardcore got a bronze medal from Anja Paerson and 26 more from Genevieve Simard while the Birds management could only look on in horror as Marc Berthod and Markus Larsson failed to bring in any points. The Balloon Animal Commandos dispatched The Blacks mostly through the overall positions with Kathrin Zettel bringing in a two race total of 74 and Tanja Poutiainen a two race total of 36.

Stenmark Division
Sammyz Slammers ran its win streak to eight, topped the 3,000 point mark and took commanding lead of the top of the Stenmark Division assuring itself a top seed in the playoffs with a 220-71 shellacking of Ranger Rick. With Marlies Schild's silver medal points in both an overall and the slalom position and Didier Cuche's bronze in the other overall slot it was a cakewalk for the Slammers.
Smokin' Mirrors edged by Rand Corp thanks to a huge two race tally of 104 from Maria Pietila Holmner, Bennie Raich finishing the slalom for 50 more and a 36 point contribution from Anna Ottosson in GS. Rand Corp pushed back with a formidable effort and 114 from Hosp in overall plus 50 from Ted Ligety in GS, but couldn't quite turn the corner. Team PMS dusted Dave's Dumpster Divers thanks largely to a crafty pick up of Ana Jelusic who brought in 50 just missing the slalom podium. The Kevlar Lederhosen took big bites all week with Raich and Ligety each tossing in 50 for the races they did finish, Resi Stiegler adding 32 more and Mancuso 45, any one of which was enough to throw out the Hammer who had Hermann Maier, with 10, leading the roster.

Forum League Report
Kashalot roared back from an off week with a massive 280 score centered on Hosp's win in GS, Schild's silver in slalom and Raich and Ligety each contributing fourth place results. Tristate Alumni did not put up much fight with only Bode Miller and Hermann Maier offering any points at all, and those darned scant. Sbtski shut out Skibum thanks for Svindal's win, Mancuso and Simard contributing. NY8738jr helped tighten things in the standings by downing Extremeskier, getting scoring from every possible team position headlined with Paerson. Dewitt Cave powdered MGB with Svindal in the GS position and Zettel adding a two race tally of 74.
