Recap
Suddenly things got tighter at the top of the league standings. Team PMS, after making what proved to be a canny pickup of Nicole Hosp off the waiver wire, got three podiums and four strong placings in two races from skiers Hosp and Janica Kostelic to pound the hapless Destroyers 260-85 and vault into first place in the standings. The Destroyers – with no small amount of desperation – jettisoned its entire team and started to rebuild, so far without success.

The teams which had been in front of Team PMS both sustained losses. The Golden Ribbons got slapped about by the Birds of Pray and a week-best 279 point total dispersed over five skiers. Birds got the GS win from Paerson and a podium from Strobl then filled in with quality showings in every position in play. The Ribbons got the Rahlves win and a podium from Maze in GS, but wasn’t able to counter the depth the Birds displayed.

The Bottle Rockets got it going with the Rahlves win in the DH slot and a 40-point slalom day from Tanja Poutiainen, which proved to be enough to down the Schwarzeneggers, which had the wrong Austrians in place. It got a podium from Hosp in slalom but precious little else.

The Blacks extended a win streak to a league-best four, getting a comfortable 145 from Marlies Schild over two races and 60 more from Kostelic in the slalom slot. It was enough to down the Weekend Warriors despite a 95-point two-race effort from Kathrin Zettel and 50 more from Michael Walchhofer in DH.

The Hammers kept a win streak alive largely due to Schild in the slalom slot and Fritz Strobl in the DH position. With Lindsey Kildow kicking in 39 more, it was enough to stop the Smokin’ Mirrors, which topped its position totals with Zettel’s fourth-place finish in the GS position.

Rick’s Rangers ousted Hawk’s Harem in a tight match-p largely because Anja Paerson posted a win while the Harem couldn’t get more than 64 from any player, with Poutiainen chipping in that total from two races.
