Recap
The premier matchup of the week pitted the Weekend Warriors against the Bottle Rockets in a high-scoring shootout that saw the Warriors prevail 331-228. A midweek pick-up of Adelbdoen slalom winner Giorgio Rocca in an overall slot, dropping Aksel Svindal, proved to be the canny move of the week as the Warriors got 106 from the position and added 100 more from Raich in the GS position. Adding 45 from Anja Paerson in the SL position was enough to down the Rockets despite 160 from Raich and 40 from Tanja Poutiainen with one result and a DNF for the SL slot.

Standings leader Team PMS, which also made a midweek maneuver (a not so successful leeching of Annemarie Gerg for Kathrin Zettel in the SL position), had plenty enough to down the speed heavy Schwarzeneggers 259-147. Team PMS made good use of the overall positions, scoring twice in both with Janica Kostelic pulling in 140 and Nicole Hosp 95. With the 24 from Gerg before the drop, the 259 total was reached. The Schwarzeneggers matched the Hosp total, having the athlete in the SL position, but had trouble garnering any big points from any other positions, topping out with Hermann Maier’s 36 GS points.

The Blacks are moving up the standings chart with a bullet, with Marlies Schild’s back-to-back slalom wins coming from an overall position and Janica Kostelic’s dual podiums in the slalom position. Those 340 points were enough for the win over Hawk’s Harem, which was led by Poutiainen’s 40-point weekend. American women Julia Mancuso and Sarah Schleper contributed, but having the women’s GS reschdeuled did not help the cause.

The Hammers posted a potent 273 total, riding Schild’s two wins in the slalom position, but needed very little to oust the once-proud Golden Ribbons. Ribbons management ripped the “Golden” from the nameplate after a zero-point drubbing in hopes of inspiring the flailing team.

Rick’s Rangers stopped the Smokin’ Mirrors 157-10,0 getting no more than 60 points from any one position, but the Mirrors barely escaped the shutout when all-star SL player Giorgio Rocca notched his fourth win of the season, all but handing the game over.

The Birds of Pray got the narrowest win of the week over the Destroyers. The Birds were led by Kristina Koznick’s 86 points in two slaloms, adding 18 more from Bode Miller’s struggling finish in the Adelboden GS. The Destroyers had nothing going until Ted Ligety collected second in the slalom, and went down 104-80.
