Fantasy Report: Week 9 final

It was a deceptive week for fantasy skiing. What looked like a schedule evenly distributed between the genders turned out to heavily favor the female speed skiers when the men's slate dropped to one run of downhill and some rapidly deteriorating conditions while the women got in three starts at Cortina. Teams heavy on testosterone found themselves with pretty meager numbers while some women's teams, particularly those with Julia Mancuso on board, got to do some whomping.

Teams heavy on testosterone found themselves with pretty meager numbers while some women's teams, particularly those with Julia Mancuso on board, got to do some whomping.
    Stenmark Division leading Sammyz Slammers managed a fifth straight win despite a points total 300pts lower than the average of its last four weeks, beating the Kevlar Lederhosen only because of a last minute addition of Renate Goetschl, and her DH win, to the roster. Rand Corporation got a podium out of Nicole Hosp but so did Dave's Dumpster Divers in the SG position and it took lesser contributions from Tina Maze and Fraenzi Aufdenblatten for Rand Corp to sneak past. Smokin' Mirrors made a move up the standings by defrosting Team PMS via a strong two race showing from Andrea Fischbacher and Anna Ottosson snaring 40 counts in GS. Despite an all-female roster, Team PMS suffered when Kathrin Zettel missed scoring well in the GS. Ranger Rick only has one woman on the squad, but it has her twice with Tina Maze in GS and SG and she scored in both races at Cortina, providing the margin to stop The Hammers which totaled 30pts.

For the second straight week the Moser-Proell Division standings got a new leader, this time when Interosseous Membrane did a ravage on Ribbons winning by 248pts. The Membrane got two podiums from Renate Goetschl and 80 more from Eric Guay in the lone men's race. It also got 45 from Mario Scheiber, which would have been enough to win on its own. Big point total of the week went to the Destroyers, now riding a three week win streak and the awesome run of Mancuso, contributing 260 on her lonesome. White Circus Watch had no chance, especially after Lindsey Kildow DNF'd the DH. The Blacks stepped out of the division basement by pounding Birds of Pray with production from four of six positions including a three-race contribution from Elisabeth Goergl. With one woman on the team, the Birds fluttered in with 55pts and couldn't get purchase to make a run. Hilary's Hellacious Hardcore got two top sixes from Anja Paerson and that fourth from Genevieve Simard in GS for one of the top scores of the week putting down the Balloon Animal Commandos with ease.

Forum League
Skibum rose out of the cellar to thrash league leading Kashalot getting points from four positions while Kashalot saw Hosp DNF the GS and had to rely on Fischbacher's SG score for its entire point production. Sbtski had an amazing 398pt total, not only collecting Mancuso's 260 but getting 50 from Kildow in SG and 50 from Simard in GS, add a handful more from the guys and Tristate Alumni went looking for new territory. Extremeskier got just two results, but they were beauties with Goetschl's win in the DH position and Mancuso's win in the SG position. It was more than enough to stop Dewitt Cave as Zettel's battle with a virus kept her out of the big point mix. Eighty points from Hosp in SG wasn't enough. NY8739Jr handled MGB as the four of the former's players got points and just two of the latters did.
