Feuz injury not serious, but he will miss time

Beat Feuz, the runner-up of last season’s World Cup tour had to return early from training camp in Argentina (Ushuaia) because of pain in his surgically repaired knee, but today (Aug. 27) he received some good news, the injury is nothing more than a bone bruise.

According to the Swiss federation, Prof. HU Staeubli examined Feuz in Bern and made the determination. Feuz had surgery on the knee (his left) last Spring after struggling through the last few weeks of the season. When he began to feel pain in the joint while training he was sent home for the evaluation. Though the bruise is painful the joint is otherwise unaffected and the federation reports it should heal in three to four weeks and he can again begin on snow training.

Feuz said he had been able to do some ski testing in Argentina, a critical component as he switched ski companies during the off-season (to Head from Salomon). A fall while training GS caused the bone bruise.

“I’m glad it is not a serious injury and I remain optimistic for the upcoming season,” Feuz said.

The Swiss won two downhills last season (Wengen and Sochi) and two super G’s (Val Gardena and Kvitjfell). He tallied an impressive 13 podium results for the year.
