Jean-Luc Diard has been named by the Tecnica Group to lead a new strategic effort by the company to expand its brand exposure, and a new emphasis on the U.S. market is part of the plan.
The 50-year old French executive, who has held many high-level positions in the outdoor sports business, was most recently CEO of Salomon Group. At Tecnica he will be the senior vice president for business development as well as a member of the group’s strategic outdoor project.
The first objective of the project is to develop and market Tecnica and Dolomite to their full potential in the outdoor sector, building on the strong brand identity, offering unique product innovation and capitalizing on the presence of the brands at specialized retailers in markets around the world, with a particular emphasis on the U.S. market.

The Tecnica Group acquired Blizzard Skis last year and intregrated all of its brands in a new design center in Giavera, Italy. Other winter sports brands under the Tecnica banner include Tecnica, Nordica, Dolomite, Blizzard, Rollerblade, Nitro, Lowa, Think Pink, MoonBoot and T-Shoes.
“We strongly believe in this project, which represents a milestone in the company strategy for the future,” says Giancarlo Zanatta, president and CEO of Tecnica Group. “We are confident that our brands can be as powerful and successful in the outdoor market as they are in the ski market, where the Tecnica Group will continue to reinforce its leadership.”

Diard officially starts his new position on Sept. 1.
