Japan’s Sara Takanashi claimed the opening individual women’s ski jump of the World Cup season today (Nov. 24) at Lillehammer, Norway outscoring American Sarah Hendrickson by nearly four points.

Hendrickson had been leading after the first round and said she was satisfied with her result. “After that windy and rainy day yesterday it was a pleasure to see the sun shining when we arrived at the hill,” Hendrickson said. “It was a perfect day for ski jumping and I am absolutely satisfied with my performance.”

Takanashi said, “My jumps were good and so were the conditions today. I am so happy and now am really excited about the upcoming competitions in Sochi.”

Norway’s Anette Sagen posted third. American Lindsey Van jumped to eighth.
