Jean-François Rapatel named as new team manager for CDAST{mosimage}Alpine Canada Alpin has announced the nomination of Jean-François Rapatel, as the new Team Manager for Canadian Disabled Alpine Ski Team (CDAST).

Rapatel joins ACA after several years working in promotion and sport development at Cross Country Canada. Accounting for extensive knowledge within the non-profit sports organization industry and more than 17 years of racing and coaching experience in the alpine ski world, Jean-François will play an important role in assisting CDAST achieve its high objectives in preparation for 2010, which represent the first Paralympics ever hosted in Canada. Canada’s elite disabled alpine ski team is composed of 18 athletes, including 2005 super G World Champion, Chris Williamson.

While working part-time at Cross Country Canada, Rapatel earned his Masters in Sport Administration at the University of Ottawa. The Montréal native also holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from the Université de Montréal.

“I’m thrilled about the opportunity to join Alpine Canada Alpin and to combine my passion for alpine ski racing with my experience gained while working at other national sport organizations. I’m looking forward to the exciting challenge of contributing to the growth of the Canadian Disabled Alpine Ski Team while working with an inspiring group of athletes, coaches and staff.”

Rapatel will be working out of ACA’s offices in Calgary, effective July 4, 2005.
