JO's: Braun, Guilmineau open Rocky 3 with DH wins

Local skiers Nick Braun and Barry Brinton claimed the men’s Rocky/Central J3 Junior Olympics Saturday in Vail, Colorado. And two more Ski Club Vail skiers swept the top two spots in the women’s race as well with Celine Guilmineau posting a heathy 1.41 second margin over first year J3 Kendall Vanhee.Local skiers Nick Braun and Barry Brinton claimed the men’s Rocky/Central J3 Junior Olympics Saturday in Vail, Colorado. And two more Ski Club Vail skiers swept the top two spots in the women’s race as well with Celine Guilmineau posting a heathy 1.41 second margin over first year J3 Kendall Vanhee.

Braun covered the 1234m course in forty-nine and a quarter seconds, taking the win by .41 over Brinton. Buck Hill first year skier Mitchell Underhill was third .22 off of Brinton. Arlo Shefte-Jacobs came from the 44th start to post fourth and Thomas Grant was fifth.

Behind Guilmineau and 58th starter Vanhee was Alex Gencheff with Camille Cory in fourth and Ali Pougiales fifth.

Racing continues with super G’s for both genders Sunday.
