The 2009 Cross Country Junior Olympics continued Wednesday under sunny skies in Truckee Cali., with men’s and women’s OJ-J2 freestyle races.

Hannah Smith of the Crested Butte-Gunnison Nordic Ski Team took the J2 women’s crown three and a half seconds ahead of Michaela Frias of Steamboat Springs Winter Sports in second place. Cambridge Sports Union’s Corey Stock rounded out the podium in third.

Logan Hanneman of the Fairbanks Alaska Ski Team took the J2 men’s win followed by Alaska Nordic Racing’s Isaac Lammers in second and the Bridger Ski Foundation’s Akeo Mayfeild-Carucci in third.

Joanne Reid of the Auburn Ski Club topped the J1 women’s podium ahead of Elizabeth Guiney of the Park City Nordic Ski Team in second and Katie Gill of the Bridger Ski Foundation in third.

Leading the J1 men was Scott Patterson of the Alaska Winter Stars followed by Erik Bjornsen of the Methow Valley Nordic Team in second and George Cartwright of the Lander Nordic Ski Association in third.

Becca Rorabaugh of the Alaska Pacific University Nordic Ski Center won the women’s OJ race. Brianna Perkins of the Summit Nordic Ski Club took second followed by Bernie Nelson of the Auburn Ski Club in third.

Chase Marston and Graham Egan of the Middlebury Ski Team grabbed the top two men’s OJ spots in first and second, respectively. Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation’s Willie Neal rounded out the podium in third place.
