Ted Ligety returned to the U.S. following the Levi World Cup slalom in order to prepare for the men’s races at Beaver Creek scheduled for the first week of December, but his training may now be on hold. In a giant slalom training session at Vail’s Golden Peak today, eye witnesses at the venue reported Ligety caught his left hand in a gate at the top of the course and was unable to continue with the session.

A source close to Ligety confirmed the athlete injured his left hand and is currently being evaluated by Dr. Randy Viola in Vail to determine if surgery is required. This is a developing story, but the latest update on his condition is available here.
