Dartmouth College used a pair of first-place finishes in Saturday’s Nordic events to overtake Middlebury College and win the two-day St. Michael’s College Winter Carnival, kicking off the 2007 Eastern Intercollegiate Skiing Association (EISA) winter carnival season.
DARTMOUTH COLLEGE used a pair of first-place finishes in Saturday’s Nordic events to overtake Middlebury College and win the two-day St. Michael’s College Winter Carnival, kicking off the 2007 Eastern Intercollegiate Skiing Association (EISA) winter carnival season.
    The alpine portion of the event was held at Smuggler's Notch in Jeffersonville, Vt., while the Nordic competition took place at Sleepy Hollow in Huntington, Vt.    
    Dartmouth, which won both the men and women’s 3-by-3 sprint relay races, finished the two-day competition with 697 points, 11 better than the University of Vermont. Vermont, however, did claim a team victory in Saturday’s men’s slalom.
    Middlebury, the leader through day one, finished in third place with 679 points, and won Saturday's women’s slalom. The University of New Hampshire was a distant fourth with 576 points, and the host Purple Knights were ninth out of 12 schools with 206 points.  
     The EISA circuit continues next Friday and Saturday at the New Hampshire Carnival.
