France’s Jason Lamy Chappuis increased his overall lead today (Feb. 3) by winning the World Cup nordic combined in Val di Fiemme, Italy.

“I had more confidence and a good technique today.” Said Chappuis. “I’m in really good shape, so let’s see what will happen on the next two days.”

With this victory, his fourth in the current 2011/12 season, he is now 182 points ahead of Italy’s Alessandro Pittin, who had a bad fall two weeks ago and wasn’t in top condition.

German Bjoern Kircheisen took second and Norway’s Mikko Kokslien followed in third. Kokslien’s podium finish today puts him in the fifth place overall World Cup standings.

The World Cup Nordic Combined will continue with a team sprint competition in Val di Fiemme tomorrow (Feb.4).
