Norway names next season’s national alpine teamTweet
A total of 13 women and 13 men have been named to the Norwegian national team for the 2014-15 season, and they have already started preparations for next winter. European Cup teams have trained and raced FIS events while the World Cup teams have been training at Hafjell and Kvitfjell.
Adjustments have been made in training and support services for next season. Havard Tjørhom continues as head coach of men’s team while Tron Moger oversees men’s speed. Franz Gamper will look after the daily training of Aksel Lund Svindal and Kjetil Jansrud in both speed and technical disciplines. Christian Mitter will be responsible for managing the men’s World Cup technical group, and Reto Nydegger continues as head coach of the Europa Cup squad.
On the women’s side there are major changes for next season, but some have yet to be divulged. Eivind Østenengen will continue as a coach for the World Cup team, while Lars Henrik Kristoffersen and Jörgen Nordlund will be responsible for the European Cup ladies. A new World Cup coach on the women’s side will be employed in the near future to replace Stefan Abplanalp who departed for a position with the U.S. Ski Team.
While most of the names on the list are as to be expected, all-rounder Maria Tviberg has been promoted from the Europa Cup squad to the World Cup and University of Vermont standout Jonathan Nordbotten, set to graduate from college in May, has been named directly to the World Cup team.
