There are several changes to the Norwegian alpine coaching staff ahead of the 2014-2015 season.

Canadian Tim Gfeller (37) is the last addition to the alpine national team staff ahead of this winter’s World Cup season. Gfeller is head coach of the women’s World Cup team, where he is assisted by Eivind Østenengen and Chris Refsnes as the new conditioning coach.

The Canadian from Ottawa, who previously worked as a coach at the World Cup level with the Canadian women’s team, signed a two-year contract with the Norwegian Ski Federation, and is already well underway with confidence after recently completing a long training camp with his new team in New Zealand.

The men’s coaching staff is also complete with Lars Mæland running the conditioning side as head of dryland training. Håvard Tjørhom continues as men’s head coach, Tron Moger as speed coach, and Franz Gamper overseeing the daily training of Aksel Lund Svindal and Kjetil Jansrud in both the speed and technical disciplines.

Men’s World Cup technical coach Christian Mitter and assistant Stefan Kronberger are also in full swing preparing for the season.

There are 12 women and 13 men in total on the squad.

Athletes and coaches look forward to the traditional World Cup season this winter with the World Championships in Vail-Beaver Creek as the natural high point in February.

Editor’s note: The original press release indicates that Mitter and Kronberger are working with the Europa Cup team when they are, in fact, coaches with the World Cup technical group.
