Thomas Mermillod-Blondin, the Frenchman who most recently found the podium at World Cup Finals after placing second behind teammate Alexis Pinturault in the super G at Lenzerheide, injured his knee in a fall during equipment testing at Le Grand-Bornand, his head sponsor resort. The 30-year-old all-round Salomon skier has been diagnosed with a partial tear of the ACL in his right knee.

Additionally, doctors suspect he may have sustained damage to his tibia in the crash. Mermillod-Blondin will undergo further tests in the coming week to determine the full extent of the injury. In the event that surgery is required, he would be off snow for at least six months.
