BANFF/CANMORE, Alberta – The Board of Directors of the Bow Valley Quikies and Banff Alpine Racers is pleased to announce the appointment of Pete Bosinger as the Executive Director of the two ski clubs.

“The Ski Club has gone through a strong period of growth under past leadership and the opportunity to bring someone with Pete’s depth and experience is truly exciting as we seek to continue building on an impressive track record of athletic development in the Bow Valley Corridor,” said Banff Alpine Racers President Damien Mills.

Bosinger joins the local ski club with 25 years of racing experience on the world stage. He is a former World Cup athlete and Olympian who helped build the careers of many athletes as a coach for both the U.S. and Canadian national teams. In addition, Bosinger played an important role in the success of the Vancouver Olympic Games as Sport Manager. He most recently served as Director of Events for Alpine Canada.

“Pete’s willingness to come back to Banff and bring his knowledge to a new generation is a huge opportunity for the Club. We believe this will give our athletes a huge push and help build on a legacy of excellence,” noted Bow Valley Quikies Presient Darcy Locke.

The Banff Alpine Racers has produced some of Canada’s top skiers, evidenced by Jan Hudec’s bronze medal at the Sochi Olympics. Hudec is only one of several top alumni. Trevor Philp continues to lead Canada on the World Cup tour and in NCAA competition. Other alumni include World Cup winner Thomas Grandi, one of Canada’s fastest downhillers, Carey Mullen, and recent NorAm champion Paul Stutz.

The Bow Valley Quikies has consistently produced some of the best athletes in skiing since its creation by Mike and Bonnie Weigle in the late 70s.

“To be given a chance to lead the current generation of athletes forward in their skiing careers is an enormous opportunity; improved only by the opportunity to come back to my home community (Banff) and settle after 25 years of traveling all over the skiing world,” said Bosinger. “In 2011, I made Banff my permanent residence again, and I’m really excited to bring all of the things I’ve learned on the world stage to the next generation of super stars.”

Bow Valley Quikies and Banff Alpine Racers  are currently the two largest ski clubs in Alberta with approximately 300 athletes between the ages of four and 20 training and racing within the clubs’ programs. The goal of their partnership is to promote the sport of alpine ski racing at all levels of the organization, by providing opportunities for all members to develop personal excellence.
