Pinturault leads Beaver Creek GS after first run

PinturaultYoung Frenchman Alexis Pinturault is making a bid for his first World Cup win with his first run effort in a frigid Beaver Creek GS, but he looks to be in a four man race.

Pinturault leads after the first run, but three skiers, including Ted Ligety, are within .14 of his 1:20.28 clocking. Marcel Hirscher, the winner of a GS on the same track just two days ago, is the closest to the 20 year old Pinturault, .11 back and Norway’s Aksel Lund Svindal with three wins at Beaver Creek is looking to add another discipline’s victory to his list from the third slot .13 out. Ligety, the defending Cup GS champion, holds fourth .14 out.

Beyond those four no other skier is within a half second of the leaders. It is bright and sunny at Beaver Creek with temperatures still below zero as they make the break between runs.
