Jessica Kelley was a 10-year veteran on the U.S. Ski Team who collected three NorAm titles, won giant slalom silver at the 2002 World Junior Championships, and was a member of the 2007 World Championships team in Are, Sweden. With the completion of her undergraduate degree at Westminster College, Kelley is joining the Ski Racing staff as an Associate Editor effective Sept. 29 with primary responsibility for women’s alpine World Cup and domestic coverage.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to bring Jess on board,” said Ski Racing Publisher and Chief Operating Officer Claire Abbe Brown. “Her knowledge and passion for the sport at every level will bring tremendous value to our organization especially considering her professional career and extensive family history.”

Kelley hails from a family deeply ingrained in the history of U.S. ski racing. She grew up at Cochran’s Ski Area in Vermont (founded by her grandparents), and her mother was a member of the 1976 Olympic team. Kelley’s aunt, Barbara Ann Cochran, won the 1972 Olympic gold medal in slalom, and both of her brothers (Tim and Robby) were also athletes on the U.S. Ski Team.

kellyjessShe spent the past four years as an assistant women’s FIS coach at the Park City Ski Team and has conditioning experience from her work with two-time Olympian Megan McJames as well as athletes at the Winter Sports School.

“I am very excited to be joining the Ski Racing team and to continue to be a part of the skiing world from a completely new perspective. I have enjoyed reading Ski Racing for years, and I look forward to contributing to the ski racing community in an entirely different way,” said Kelley.

During her career on the national team, she had over 40 World Cup starts in giant slalom, and her best result was 17th captured in Sierra Nevada, Spain at the race won by Michaela Kirchgasser in 2007.

Kelley currently resides in Park City, Utah with her husband, Adam Cole, an assistant coach with the U.S. Ski Team men’s multi group that includes Ted Ligety and Bode Miller.
