Snow cancels events at Cortina and Kitzbuehel, Bansko gets St. Moritz DH

Training runs at both Kitzbuehel and Cortina were cancelled this morning, both due to falling snow.

At Cortina there were 25inches on the ground at 6:30 am and forecasts calling for another 25. Last season the same thing happened and the women of the World Cup were treated to a snow-day and some powder skiing.

At Kitzbuehel officials made the call about 9:30. Racers were out for inspection but it was snowing too heavily to get the training run in.

Training runs at both Kitzbuehel and Cortina were cancelled this morning, both due to falling snow. Organizers later extended the cancellations through tomorrow.

At Cortina there were 25inches on the ground at 6:30 am with forecasts calling for another 25, prompting the cancelation of Thursday’s super G. More information regarding rescheduling the super G will be announced on Thursday. Friday and Saturday’s downhills, as well as Sunday’s giant slalom will take place as scheduled.

At Kitzbuehel officials made the call about 9:30. Racers were out for inspection but it was snowing too heavily to get the training run in.

The cancelled ladies downhill from St. Moritz (SUI) has been rescheduled today to Bansko (BUL) and will take place on Friday, Feb. 27th at 12:00 LOC (11:00 CET).
