ANOTHER FANTASY SKI RACING
season is upon us. The wily veterans of the first campaign have returned (another round of congratulations to Team PMS for winning the 2006 title) and have been joined by new and expectant rookie managers, as well as a whole new league of players uncovered through the SR Forums. Welcome all. Fantasy participants: Log on to the SR Forums and go to the fantasy league thread to give and take feedback on the season.

How it works
Here’s how it works. Our league managers select, via a live draft when possible, two skiers who will score all of their points this season, and one more skier in each discipline, scoring only in that discipline. Our fantasy teams go head-to-head each week, with the win-loss record determining the league standings. In March we’ll enter a playoff phase, with the champion being crowned after the World Cup Finals conclude. For the Ski Racing League, we had 16 teams and broke play down into two divisions. The SR Forums League was limited to eight players. The schedules and rosters are listed here.

Making changes
Any of you who might have played in other sport fantasy leagues know tinkering with your team is half the fun. It is the manager’s responsibility to check their team periodically and be certain they aren’t fielding injured skiers. They won’t score points if they aren’t racing. Managers can make changes by contacting the league commissioner at: hmckee@skiracing.com. There is a waiver procedure for picking up skiers dropped by another manager and a three-day waiting period so the entire league gets a fair shot. Skiers not on another team in a category are “free agents” and may be exchanged for at any time. Once the first race of the week is under way, teams are frozen until the final race of the week is completed. Questions? Contact the commissioner.
