High winds forced the cancellation of the women’s World Cup downhill scheduled today at St Moritz, Switzerland. Plans for rescheduling the race have not been confirmed.

After rescheduling the downhill for Sunday in hopes of better weather, organizers pushed the start time back, then called it off all together as high winds continued.

Lindsey Vonn, who still leads the World Cup overall with 438 points, was disappointed she never got a chance to shine at St. Moritz, after disqualifications in the super-combined and super-G races.

Vonn and her husband Thomas will spend the holidays with Maria Riesch’s family in Germany, while Julia Mancuso will head to Austria for training and a number of the U.S. women’s team will sign autographs at the Munich airport Monday morning before returning stateside for the holidays.
