Treble Cone hosted the Mapei Australia/New Zealand Continental Cup (ANC) this week, attracting an impressive lineup of New Zealand and international talent. More than 140 men and women competed to better their world ranking and selection for the coming World Championships and 2010 Olympic Games.
WANAKA, New Zealand — Treble Cone hosted the Mapei Australia/New Zealand Continental Cup (ANC) this week, attracting an impressive lineup of New Zealand and international talent. More than 140 men and women competed to better their world ranking and selection for the coming World Championships and 2010 Olympic Games.
    Iceland’s Bjoergvin Bjoergvinson topped Friday’s men’s slalom, with American Jacob Lund second and Switzerland’s Ruedi Von Kaenel third. Both Lund and Von Kaenel train with the Treble Cone Race Academy in Wanaka. Slovakia’s Jana Gantnerova won the women’s slalom, followed by New Zealanders Janelle Miller and Sarah Jarvis in second and third, respectively.
    Norway’s Truls Ove Karlsen won the opening giant slalom event Thursday, nipping American Warner Nickerson by a tenth of a second. American Ryan Wilson, who trains with the Treble Cone Race Academy, finished tied for third with World Cup veteran Bjarne Solbakken of Norway.
    Switzerland’s Fabienne Suter won the women’s GS by nearly two seconds ahead of Austria’s Elisabeth Goergl. Suter’s teammate Martina Schild was third.
