‘These individuals are terrific additions to our Board of Trustees’ said Worthington. ‘Kipp is a former ski racer, an avid fan and a strong supporter of the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation and the Hailey Ski Team. Wendy came later to the sport, but her passion and knowledge about amateur and professional athletics has been with her throughout her life. Both bring a strong business background to the Board which will be invaluable for our fundraising efforts.’

Lane is now chairman of Lane Holdings, Inc., a private equity investment company. She currently sits on three other boards including Laboratory Corporation of America, one of the largest independent clinical laboratory companies in the world; Willis Group Holdings Limited, the third largest global insurance broker; and UPM–Kymmene Corporation, a paper and forest products company that is one of the largest companies in Finland. Previously, Lane was a principal and managing director of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette.

Lane graduated from Wellesley College where she studied mathematics and French as a Durant Scholar (highest academic award) and earned her MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business. Despite not taking up skiing until age 32, Lane has become an avid fan of the sport. She and her husband, Fred, live in the Boston area and own a second home in Vail, Colo., which they and their two children enjoy throughout the season. Her cousin, Sondra Van Ert, is a competitive snowboarder.

Nelson, a graduate of the Squaw Valley USA Academy, earned his B.S. in finance from the University of Colorado where he competed as a ski racer. He still is an avid skier and an active racer who participates in USSA Masters competitions, the Hailey Ski Team and the local town series in Sun Valley, Idaho. Nelson has been in international banking for more than 20 years including 13 in London and five in Hong Kong. He was a partner at Goldman, Sachs & Co. for 10 years. Prior experience includes being a director with Credit Suisse First Boston and vice president at First Chicago. He currently lives in Ketchum, Idaho.

The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team Foundation is the nonprofit fundraising arm of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association. The Foundation was incorporated in 1964 as the 501(c)3 organization to raise money to support year-round athlete training, development, competition and educational needs. The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Teams receive no federal funding or subsidy moneys and operate solely through private donations from individuals, corporations and foundations.
