LEA LOZAR of Sierra Nevada College dominated the women’s giant slalom on Wednesday as the USCSA nationals kicked off at Winter Park, Colorado.
Lozar finished with an unofficial two-run time of 2 minutes, 9.59 seconds, beating Smith College’s Mikaela Martineau in second place by 2.25 seconds. Martineau clocked 2:11.84 to slip past Eliza Hawkins of Massachusetts in third at 2:11.86. Ashley Lacavalla of Boston College finished fourth and Sierra Nevada’s Caroline Bergstroem was fifth.
Competition continues Thursday with the men’s GS.
