MAMMOTH LAKES, Calif. – Mammoth Mountain Ski and Snowboard Team (MMST) is pleased to announce the hiring of Chip White as head alpine coach. White brings 18 years of World Cup and Olympic coaching experience with the U.S. Ski Team and is a long-time member of the Mammoth Lakes community. He will hope to contribute a wealth of knowledge, experience and creativity to the teams.

“When we learned that Chip was thinking of stepping away from the U.S. Ski Team, we knew we had only one option; sign him before someone else does,” said MMST Performance Director Pete Korfiatis. “Chip brings an incredible amount of snow sport knowledge to our teams.”

White will further develop the MMST speed program, implement new and creative training possibilities across all alpine teams, and will aid in the development of terrain features and surface preparation for Mammoth’s alpine racing venues. Additionally, he will act as MMST’s training manager; taking the lead role in establishing a world-class staff training program providing the necessary skill set to develop young athletes to their ultimate potential.

I have been traveling all over the world going to some of the most exotic ski resorts and Mammoth Mountain is still one of the best places in the world.

“Throughout Mammoth’s partnership as an official training ground for the U.S. Teams, I have come to know and respect Chip as one of the most passionate and motivated coaches I have ever met,” said Mark Brownlie, Vice President Mountain Operations, Mammoth Mountain. “Chip’s ability to provide an environment for athletic success is second to none, as the U.S. Team’s phenomenal results have shown. It gives me great pride to welcome Chip to our team, and continue the Mammoth tradition of having great coaches and world class training.”
