XC skier Eder loses doping-ban suspension apeal
Austrian cross-country skier Johannes Eder has lost his appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to overturn a one-year doping ban.
LAUSANNE, Switzerland — Austrian cross-country skier Johannes Eder has lost his appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to overturn a one-year doping ban.
Eder, who injected himself with saline solution during the Winter Olympics in Torino, was banned for a year by Ski Austria on May 12. But Eder appealed the decision, saying he was told by a doctor to inject himself with the solution to combat diarrhea.
CAS upheld the ban earlier this month, saying Eder ''acted without significant fault,'' but noted the one-year ban was already half of the automatic two-year doping ban.
