Following today’s FIS inspection, the Snow Queen Trophy World Cup slalom races in Zagreb, Croatia, scheduled for Jan. 4 and 6, 2015 are confirmed. Snow guns are running at full power once again, and the long-term weather forecast is favorable for the series that was canceled and relocated to Bormio, Italy, last year.

The Crveni Spust race slope atop Sljeme will be ready to host the Vip Snow Queen Trophy races according to FIS representatives Emmanuel Couder and Filip Gartner who carried out the inspection.

Roughly half of the snow made two weeks ago is still there, and the snow guns have been working nonstop since 6 a.m. this morning. Moreover, 10 centimeters of snow fell from Thursday to Friday as well. The latest weather forecast says below-freezing temperatures will last at least until Jan. 2, and may even plummet to -10° C next week. Additionally, another 20-30 centimeters of new snow is expected on Sunday.

Emmanuel Couder, the coordinator for the men’s World Cup technical races, complimented the organizer and all the staff working on the preparation of the slalom course. Due to the site’s current condition and favorable weather forecast, the race hill is officially greenlighted. The organisers have been working nonstop to fully prepare Sljeme so it can once again welcome world’s top slalom skiers, both male and female, and a number of ski legends on Jan 4 and 6.

All the facilities and structures have been erected and set up, and the Sljeme finish area is slowly beginning to look like what spectators and TV viewers will remember – ready to greet the many fans who will enjoy the sports events and great entertainment at the upcoming races.
